When all keys are lost, the job changes. High-security laser-cut keys require different cutting equipment and more precise work than traditional edge-cut keys. Some European, luxury, and newer domestic vehicles have security procedures that are substantially more involved than an older standard transponder key. Motorcycle keys can be equally specialized, particularly when an immobilizer is involved.

The practical lesson is this: provide the year, make, model, and trim level when you call. If possible, share the VIN and describe whether you have a working key, a broken key, a remote, or no key at all.
